Precis of Extract from Chung Kuo Jih Pao, January 16, 1913.

In some places abroad the bonds may not be sold, as they infringe the laws against gambling. Consequently, small reproduc- -tions are being printed, bearing only the number and price; the

regulations of the lottery are omitted, and the interest coupons

are not attached. This is being done in order to enable the bonds

to be sent abroad for sale, and it is hoped that a considerable

sum, to be devoted to city improvements, may be raised in a short

space of time.
